The school uses an Access database to
track what was covered in each class on each day. You need to create a place
holder for each class. For example, on Monday, March 4th I will
create seven placeholders for my seven classes.
· I create a placeholder for my 13:35 Pirates Class.
· I create a placeholder for my 14:20 Avengers Class. –
repeat for all classes that day.
· NOTE: You don’t create database entries for
conversation classes.
After the class you will make a quick
entry noting what you covered and any behavior issues, etc. There are also
buttons in the database where you record student effort and track attendance.
· Student effort is a 1 to 10 scale. A one means the
student sat there and said nothing.
· A 10 means that the student made a real effort to
learn and improve.
· A 5 is the average. The student participated when
called on but didn’t go above and beyond.
The database has a section where you
note what you did in the class that day. For example, you might note – “We did
all of the book exercises on pages 39 and 40 in Chapter 4. The new words today
were longest, farthest, and fastest.”
There is also a section for homework. If
you make an entry in the homework box, it will be emailed to the students (or
parents’ email). The homework notes for a Monday class automatically email at 5
AM Tuesday. The same is true for Tuesday being emailed at 5 AM Wednesday.
The students are automatically assigned
homework through the database/email system. The native speakers do not see this
homework. Peter can explain more during orientation.
