FORMER TEACHER - MeetUp.com in Bratislava


There is a MeetUp group in Bratislava for English speakers. It’s called Bratislava English MeetUp. The organizer’s name is Kevin Anthony Dean. The group meets every Friday night from 6 PM – 9 PM in Bratislava. It’s a mix of native speakers and conversational ESL learners. It’s a good break from Zlate Moravce to join this group on Fridays. You can take the bus down to Bratislava and stay overnight in a hostel.

As of April 2019 there is some discussion of moving this group away from MeetUp to avoid the monthly fee. They have established a Facebook group using the same name.



During my time here I used MeetUp to establish my own group. The fee was only 5 euros a month for a 50-member group. I met with my group over coffee on Saturday morning or beer on Saturday afternoon before I took the bus back to Zlate Moravce. It’s something to consider if you’re interested in making more friends.

FORMER TEACHER - Leaving Early in June

For the past two years Peter has offered to have the native speakers leave before the end of June. The school is open until the last Thursday in June. This year the last day of school is Thursday, June 27th. Peter may want you to stay through the end of June next year. In 2019 he asked all three native speakers if they would like to skip the last two weeks. There's nothing wrong with departing early but you need to be aware of the possibility so that you can plan. Consider this when making your flight arrangements for the end of June.  Remember than if you leave early and opt to travel you will only be paid a half month's salary for June.  https://www.facebook.com/jskramar/
