FORMER TEACHER - The Teacher House

NOTE: The description below is from the 2018-2019 school year. The plan for next year is that only native speakers will live in the teacher house.

The three foreign teachers are stay at the home of Peter’s grandmother Jarmila. Peter’s brother Richard also stays in the guest house. Richard speaks fluent English. Jarmila does not speak much English but she makes an effort.

There are three bedrooms for teachers (this arrangement will likely change for 2019-2020):
·       Room 1 is on the top floor where Jarmila and Richard sleep. It has a balcony.
·       Room 2 is at the back of the house off of the kitchen.
·       Room 3 is in the basement. This is the largest space with its own small kitchen and toilet.

Jarmila and Richard use the toilet on the top floor of the house. Rooms 1 and 2 share a toilet on the ground floor of the house.

Side Note: Peter’s mother is also named Jarmila. In Slovakia it is common to name a daughter after her mother. The younger Jarmila works with Peter at the school.

Everyone shares a washing machine that is located in Jarmila and Richard’s toilet. The dryer is on the ground floor in the entry way. The washer and dryer capacity is very small by American standards. The dryer takes a long time to run. You will likely find it more efficient to dry laundry on a rack in your room. Tesco sells the racks from 8.5 Euro.

·       Teachers are responsible for purchasing toilet supplies (paper, shampoo, soap, etc.)
·       Teachers are responsible for cleaning the toilet that they use

FORMER TEACHER - How Can I Help You?

Hello, My name is Jim. I was a teacher at the Kramar school from February - May 2019. During my time in Zlate Moravce I documented many things that I believe will help future teachers. I started this blog so that I can share this information. This blog is completely independent of the Kramar school. The information here was accurate when I was in Zlate Moravce. Some of the details may have changed but this information should still help you ask the right questions. If you are heading to  Jazykova Skola Kramar or another school in  Zlate Moravce, please feel free to contact me - especially if the school has told you not to contact me. My direct email is jleonard518@gmail.com. We can also arrange a WhatsApp call. Good Luck, Jim https://www.facebook.com/jskramar/

FORMER TEACHER - Leaving Early in June

For the past two years Peter has offered to have the native speakers leave before the end of June. The school is open until the last Thursday in June. This year the last day of school is Thursday, June 27th. Peter may want you to stay through the end of June next year. In 2019 he asked all three native speakers if they would like to skip the last two weeks. There's nothing wrong with departing early but you need to be aware of the possibility so that you can plan. Consider this when making your flight arrangements for the end of June.  Remember than if you leave early and opt to travel you will only be paid a half month's salary for June.  https://www.facebook.com/jskramar/
