NOTE: The description below is from the 2018-2019 school year. The plan for next year is that only native speakers will live in the teacher house.
The three foreign teachers are stay at
the home of Peter’s grandmother Jarmila. Peter’s brother Richard also stays in
the guest house. Richard speaks fluent English. Jarmila does not speak much
English but she makes an effort.
There are three bedrooms for teachers
(this arrangement will likely change for 2019-2020):
· Room 1 is on the top floor where Jarmila and Richard
sleep. It has a balcony.
· Room 2 is at the back of the house off of the kitchen.
· Room 3 is in the basement. This is the largest space
with its own small kitchen and toilet.
Jarmila and Richard use the toilet on
the top floor of the house. Rooms 1 and 2 share a toilet on the ground floor of
the house.
Side Note: Peter’s mother is also named
Jarmila. In Slovakia it is common to name a daughter after her mother. The
younger Jarmila works with Peter at the school.
Everyone shares a washing machine that
is located in Jarmila and Richard’s toilet. The dryer is on the ground floor in
the entry way. The washer and dryer capacity is very small by American
standards. The dryer takes a long time to run. You will likely find it more
efficient to dry laundry on a rack in your room. Tesco sells the racks from 8.5
Euro.
· Teachers are responsible for purchasing toilet
supplies (paper, shampoo, soap, etc.)
· Teachers are responsible for cleaning the toilet that they
use
