FORMER TEACHER - Tips for Slovakian Public Holidays


·       On public holidays (ex. Good Friday and Easter Monday) all shops and restaurants are closed. This includes the large corporate chains like Tesco and Kaufland.
·       Many Slovakians travel by bus and train on holidays so book your tickets in advance. You can buy tickets online or at the window in Bratislava.
·       Some bus companies do not sell advance tickets at all. On the Thursday before Easter I took the 8:45 AM bus to Bratislava. That company didn’t sell advance tickets but there were plenty of seats.

FORMER TEACHER - Leaving Early in June

For the past two years Peter has offered to have the native speakers leave before the end of June. The school is open until the last Thursday in June. This year the last day of school is Thursday, June 27th. Peter may want you to stay through the end of June next year. In 2019 he asked all three native speakers if they would like to skip the last two weeks. There's nothing wrong with departing early but you need to be aware of the possibility so that you can plan. Consider this when making your flight arrangements for the end of June.  Remember than if you leave early and opt to travel you will only be paid a half month's salary for June.  https://www.facebook.com/jskramar/
